Foods laden with sugar or artificial sweeteners can lead to life threatening diseases, like obesity, diabetes and heart-related ailments.
However, there may be some types of food which may not taste sweet, but yet have high sugar component. For instance, junk food like French fries, burger, and aerated fruit juices and soda is full of carbohydrate content and can lead to quick glucose spike.
Green Tea
There are various benefits of drinking green tea. It consists of low-caffeine and high-antioxidant and is known to keep various diseases at bay and helps promote health. There are many flavoured green tea that have gained popularity because of their flavour and taste. However, these varieties contain added sugar or artificial sweeteners, which are harmful for our health.
Low-Fat Yogurt
Homemade yogurt can do wonders. It can be eaten in its original form. Also it can used to prepare various Indian delicacies as well – be it curries, raitas, kebabs or smoothies.
Yogurt that is available in the supermarket and stores are packed with added sugar and flavourtamin B-2 and vitamin B-12. So, it is better to prepare yogurt at home.
Packaged Fruit Juices
Fruits in raw and fresh form are the best for our health. In fact, drinking fruit juices fuels are body with energy and vitamin C. But packaged fruit juices are low in fibre, minerals, and vitamins. Adding to it, they contain added sugar and artificial flavours and colours. Therefore, avoid drinking store-bought (packaged) fruit juices.
Sugar-Free Products
Sugar-free products available in the market like sorbitol and mannitol, flour, milk, etc have sugar in it. These may lead to digestive troubles as they are completely dissolved by the body which ultimately slow down metabolism and results in weight gain.
Sugars that we get from fruits and vegetables are good for our body, if taken in moderate quantity. It is the artificial sugar added to various products that is harmful for us.
