Sambalpur, Dec 18: The state-based Air Odisha Aviation Private Limited Friday successful conducted flight service between the western Orissa town of Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar.
“The proving flight visit was successful. The flight service between Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar will begin by the end of this month,” said Trideep Rout, the director of the Air Odisha Aviation Private Limited.
The small aircraft alighted at the Jamadarpali-Hirakud airstrip, which is located around 10 km away from Sambalpur township.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has already given the green signal for the flight service between the two cities. Chief flight operation inspector, Subodh Gangwani and deputy director airworthiness, K K Majumdar of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation were present during the proving flight visit Friday, said Rout.
It will take about an hour to reach the state capital from Sambalpur and the cost of a ticket for the nine-seater flight would be around Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500, said Rout adding a city office would be set up in Sambalpur for the ticket booking.
Tickets would be available online also, he added.
The flight service would be available six days a week, Rout said, adding there will be one flight daily between the two cities. The service will not be provided Sundays.
The timing of the flight service was, however, yet to be finalised, he added. PTI
