Chandbali: Nearly 10 fishes of a rare kind were caught at Chandanipal fishing base under Dhamra fishing harbour in Bhadrak Thursday. The fish is not endemic to the sea. It is rarely found. However, locals call it Teliashila.
Local fishermen said this fish is sold for anything between Rs 1500 and Rs 3000 per kg.
Instead of consumption purpose, the fish is used for medicinal purpose.
As per traditional method, the fish is chopped into several pieces and are dried in the sun. Its fatty elements are preserved.
Fishermen do not sell this fish in the local market. They send it to Howarh, Digha, Silguri and Assam so as to get handsome price.
