New Delhi: In the run-up to the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the authorities have seized 1.19 lakh litres of liquor worth Rs 3.41 crore in the state till Friday.
According to the statistics provided by the Election Commission (EC), the authorities in Odisha have seized goods and cash worth Rs 6.27 crores which, the EC believes, are being used to lure voters and are in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Apart from liquor, the authorities in the state seized cash worth
Rs 2.74 crore. Other freebies, circulated to influence voters in the state, amounts to Rs 12 lakh.
Similarly, the Commission data reveals seizure of Rs 628.535 crore cash, liquor worth Rs 204.48 crore, drugs and narcotics worth
Rs 1097.47 crore, gold worth Rs 490.385 crore and other freebies worth Rs 43.33 crore across the country.
