Sohela: A person died while two others were left battling for life with serious injuries after the two-wheeler they were travelling in collided head-on with a pickup van near Aayenlapali Square at NH 53 in Bargarh district late Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Manu Chandar Badhei, a resident of Chhattisgarh’s Jajngir.
According to sources, Manu along with two others was heading to Sohela from Saraipali on a bike when a speeding pick-up van coming from opposite direction hit the two-wheeler head-on. While Manu died on the spot, two others sustained critical injuries.
On being informed, a police patrolling van reached the spot and admitted the injured duo to the Sohela hospital. They were later shifted to Burla-based VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) for further treatment after their condition worsened.
The police have seized the body of the deceased and sent it to Bargarh district headquarter hospital (DHH) for post-mortem. Both the vehicles have been seized while a probe was on, a police official said.
