Nabarangpur/Sambalpur: A person was killed while three others including a minor boy sustained grievous injuries in two separate road mishaps in Nabarangpur and Sambalpur districts Saturday.
In the first incident, a 58-year-old man identified as Krishna Bhatra of Jhitikuduga village under Papadahandi block of Nabarangpur district was killed after a pick-van hit him and his grandson from behind.
According to reports, the mishap took place when the elderly man and his grandson, Ganeshwar were on their way home from Dhaneswar UP School Saturday. While Krishna died on the spot, the minor boy was admitted to the nearby hospital in a critical condition.
In another incident, two youths sustained critical injuries after their motorcycle collided with a tree on the Kuchinda-Bamara road under Kuchinda police limits in Sambalpur district, last night.
The injured youths, identified as Rajesh Munda and Anil Munda, hail from Belamunda village under Mahulapali police limits.
According to sources, the accident took place the duo was travelling on a bike to Kuchinda and the driver lost control over the vehicle. The motorcycle skidded off the road and hit a tree injuring both the driver and the pillion rider critically.
On being informed, police reached the spot and the injured were initially rushed to Kuchinda hospital and were later shifted to VIMSAR medical college and hospital as their health condition deteriorated.
