Satna: Seven members of a family, including a child, were killed and five others injured when their jeep collided with a dumper-truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district Monday morning, police said. The victims were returning to Rewa after taking part in a family programme in Panna, Additional Superintendent of Police Shailendra Kumar Jain said. The accident took place at around 8.00am on Satna-Nagod road, about 20 km away from the district headquarters.
Six people died on the spot while one person succumbed in hospital, the official said. He added that among the deceased there were a child and three women. The injured persons were admitted in a government hospital in Rewa, Jain informed. The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident, he added.
In another accident which occurred in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, three persons were killed when their car fell into a well along Khajuraho-Binaganaj road.
Khajuraho SDPO Manmohan Singh Baghel said the incident occurred at around 8.30am when the speeding rammed into a tree and fell into the well.
“It had to be taken out with the help of a crane. The deceased have been identified as Bhupendra Singh (35), Jujhar Singh (33) and Sonu Singh (32), all residents of Khajuraho,” informed Baghel.
