Rajgangpur: The Sundargarh district health department officials breathed a sigh of relief when 10 migrants who had escaped from a quarantine centre Monday morning were brought back to the centre in the evening.
According to a source, as many as 17 migrants had got down at Rajgangpur railway station in Sundargarh district Monday morning. A quarantine centre has been set up at a community centre in Rajgangpur town by Rajgangpur municipality.
The municipality officers and GRP officials received the migrants at the station and took them all to the quarantine centre. At around 10:00 am, 10 of them -seven males and three females – were found missing.
The staff who are in charge of the quarantine centre searched for them in an ambulance. They succeeded in bringing them back to the centre, but not before the evening.
When contacted, executive officer, Rajgangpur Municipality, Binod Kumar Panda confirmed that all the returnees who had escaped were brought back to the quarantine centre.
At a time when COVID-19 positive cases are increasing in Rajgangpur town, the incident has become a cause of worry for town dwellers as well as the administration.
