Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of ‘August Kranti Divas’ celebrated August 9, honourable President of India Shri Ramnath Kovind will felicitate ten freedom fighters of the state.
However, due to COVID-19 outbreak in Odisha as well as lockdown restrictions imposed across the state, the freedom fighters may not be able to visit Rashtrapati Bhawan to receive their felicitation.
Breaking the usual tradition this year, the respective district Collectors will pay a visit to the houses of freedom fighters for the purpose of felicitating them on the honourable President’s behalf.

Each freedom fighter will be given a shawl including a memento.
The freedom fighters to be honoured are as follows:
Nilamani Samal of Balipadia village under Badachana block in Jajpur district;
Ramahari Goswami of Suryapur village under Dhusuri block in Bhadrak district
Gourahari Goswami of Suryapur village under Dhusuri block in Bhadrak district
Brajakishore Rout of Kamarabandha village under Dhamnagar block, in Bhadrak district;
Ishwar Bishoyi of Majhikhanda village under Ranpur block in Nayagarh district
Sahadev Behera of Kantilo area in Nayagarh district;
Biswanath Dash of Bhagaban Sindhol village under Balikuda block in Jagatsinghpur district;
Debanand Gupta of Kalami village under Maneswar block in Sambalpur district;
Dadhichi Sahoo of Kaipadar village in Jajpur district
Makardhwaj Das of Hatabanapur village in Kendrapara district.
