Bhadrak: At least five families have been rendered homeless Sunday night after 10 rooms of their houses were gutted in a fire mishap at Khadamahara village under Dhamnagar block in Bhadrak district.
According to reports, the fire broke out from a room when the villagers were sleeping and the flames engulfed other rooms soon. Properties worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes.
A woman also sustained burn injuries in the incident.
On being informed, the fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.
Though the exact reason for the blaze was not yet known, it was suspected that an electrical short circuit could have led to the mishap.
