1,150 Ayushman Bharat centres in state soon: PM

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday said that around 1,150 health and wellness centres under the Ayushman Bharat scheme would be opened in the state in the next two years.

He was speaking at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Arugul campus, in the presence of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Without attacking the state government over its reluctance to join the Modi government ambitious health insurance scheme, the PM said, “We want that people living in remote and smaller places should not wander here and there for treatment. For this we have planned to set up health and wellness centres under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Around 1,150 health and wellness centres have been approved for Odisha. All these centres would be ready in the next two years,” the PM said.

In his entire speech, the PM refrained from attacking the state government on any matter. He also patted his own back for taking special care of Odisha. He said, “This is the first time in history that any Central government is giving special attention to the development of Odisha and eastern India. In the last four years, special attention has been given to boost infrastructure in the state.”
