12 budding writers receive Young Author Award 2018

BHUBANESWAR: Pen in Books organised Young Author 2018 award ceremony at Soochana Bhawan here Thursday. The event was inaugurated by famous Novelist Bibhuti Patnaik, while eminent poet and writer Devdas Chotray was the chief guest.

Around 12 young writers were feted at the event. They are  Naresh Kumar Behera for ‘Gudae Prasana’ (a collection of poetries), Gobind for ‘Paana Patra O Samudra Muhana’, Gitanjali Maharana for ‘Prayaschit’, Chakradhar Patra for ‘Kuhudira Hata Dhari’ (Poetry), Pratysh Mishra for ‘Samudra Soshe’, Girish Ranjan for ‘Byanga Baruda’, Sarthak Pradhan for ‘Drushyapatta’, Sipun Jena for ‘Swapna Jeunthi Harijae’ and Debdutta Mishra for ‘Aaji o Aau Kichi Kabita’. For Hindi poetry, Jigyansha Rinku Tank and for English poetry Subhalaxmi Senapati bagged the respective award.

Interacting with Orissa Post winner Subhalaxmi Senapati said, “I was initially intimidated by such stalwarts of literature. However, I am overwhelmed with emotions as I receive this award. Awards like these encourage young writers like us to pen more poetry pieces. More such awards should be conferred on budding writers of the state.”

On this occasion, 100 poems by young poets were unveiled in a book named ‘Sahe Swara’. 50 poems by Indian writers, assimilated in a book ‘Moonlight’, were also unveiled by eminent poet Haraprasad Das and senior journalist Arabinda Das.

A poetry recitation programme was also held where Byanga Kabi Kulangar, educationist Rajanikant Tarai, poet and translator Sarat Chandra Acharya were present. A special seminar was also held where Odia poetry by budding writers were discussed by the dignitaries.
