Bhubaneswar: Unable to check the mosquito menace in Odisha, dengue has spread to 12 districts in the state.
Cuttack district has topped the list with 24 cases, eight patients have been identified in Jajpur, six each in Balasore and Jagatsinghpur, five in Nayagarh, four in Khordha, three each in Kendrapara and Bhadrak, two in Puri and one each in Angul, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts.
Sources in the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, said sample test of 33 patients was conducted Thursday and five were found to be infected by the victor-borne disease.
Of a total of 17 patients undergoing treatment at the special dengue ward of the SCB, four have been admitted to the ICU in a critical condition, the sources added.
Of 24 dengue patients in Cuttack, seven patients are from Tangi and six from Jagatpur Industrial Estate area.
Till now two dengue patients have died in the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. While Trailakyo Barik from Keonjhar district had died in the hospital on June 24, Prashant Moharana of Rupadeipur village under Balanga Police limits of Puri district had succumbed to his illness July 11.
