12-hour bandh hits normal life in Athamallik

Athamallik:  The 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the Athamallik Senior Citizen Forum to protest against the last-minute change in location of Adarsha Vidyalaya has hit normal life in Athamallik block of Angul district Monday.

There has been a proposal for setting up an Adarsha Vidyalaya at Aida. But at the last moment, it was decided to set up the school at Banamalipur instead of Aida.

The forum has objected to the last-minute change, saying the new location is 25 km away from Athamallik.

While vehicular movement on the roads has come to a grinding halt, all business establishments have downed their shutters Monday.

Similarly, government, non-government offices and educational institutions have also remained closed.
