Phulnakhra: As many as 12 cobra hatchlings were rescued by digging the concrete near Amrapalli Kalyan Mandap at Phulnakhara in Cuttack district Tuesday.
Some people found eggs of snakes inside the concrete Monday night and informed the snake helpline.
The helpline members rescued 12 hatchlings from inside the concrete.
A couple of days ago, a baby cobra was rescued from a rice bag in a girls’ hostel in Kedar Gouri area in Bhubaneswar. The snake helpline founder Subhendu Mallick rescued the baby snake that was hiding in a cup kept inside the rice bag.
As many as seven snake hatchlings were found at Paika Sahi in Mangarajpur village under Kujanga block in Jagatsinghpur district June 29. Of the seven, three were alive.
Likewise, three cobras were rescued from a puja room (Bhagabat Gadi) in Kalianti village of Mahanga block in Cuttack district the same day.
In another incident June 29, as many as 11 cobra hatchlings were rescued from a shop at Radho village near Udala in Mayurbhanj district.
More than 10 cobra hatchlings were earlier found at Begunia village under Tirtol block in Jagatsinghpur district. Three of the five snakes were reportedly beaten to death by locals.
Besides, June 27, more than 20 cobra hatchlings were rescued from a house of Narilo village in Kendrapada district.
Snake helpline members had also rescued 12 Indian cobra hatchlings from the house of Anadi Sahu of Suhagpur village in Pipili June 26.
Hundreds of cobras were also reportedly rescued from two separate villages in the Bhadrak district a few days ago.
