Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma Wednesday inaugurated the logo and mascot for the third edition of All India Judo Cluster tournament to be held at JN Indoor Stadium here from November 15.
Addressing the curtain raiser for the event being organised by Odisha Police, Sharma said, “This event involves the prestige of Odisha Police. So, we will make sure that there must not be any slackness and disorganisation in the management.”
Odisha police is organising the five-day long third edition of All India Police Judo Cluster with an expected participation of around 1,200 players, 300 officials and trainees from 33 teams consisting of Central para-military forces and state police organisations.
Judo, Gymnastics, Taekwondo and Wushu tournaments will be organised by All India Police Sports Control Board. ‘Olly’ has been chosen as the mascot for the event apparently to promote Hockey Men’s World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar.
State Sports and Youth Services department is providing necessary support in the shape of men and material to make this event a grand success.
Separate sub-committees spearheaded by senior officers of the state police for better coordination and management of the event with Sharma being the chairman of the panels. Players and officials have been accommodated in the Capital city and Cuttack.
The DGP has categorically asked the officers to work effectively and efficiently to make the event a success.
Inspector General of Police, Law & Order, Amitabh Thakur is heading the media and publicity committee and dope sub-panel, said sources.
