Bhubaneswar, June 2: The state government has set a target to construct 13 lakh more pucca houses under rural housing scheme in the next two years.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the secretariat here Saturday.
Padhi informed that the state government has constructed 17.45 lakh pucca houses and 13 lakh more are needed to be constructed to ensure housing for all under rural housing schemes. He added that the state has asked officials to work out a plan to construct these houses adhering to the deadline.
Officials after the meeting said that as per the priority list of beneficiaries prepared under rural housing schemes, 31,587 families are landless and will be given priority during allotment of these houses.
