135 acres of ganja cultivation soiled in Kandhamal

Phulbani: Sadar police along with the excise officials destroyed 135 acres of ganja cultivation in Kandhamal district Thursday. They reportedly cut 1.35 lakh cannabis plants and set it afire.

District Collector Dr. Brunda D and Superintendent of Police, Pratik Singh jointly monitored the drive.

Sadar police SDPO, Surendranath Murmu said, “The ganja cultivation was in a forest land near Mangamunda village. The raid was conducted by a joint team of police and excise personnel. Similarly, illegal ganja cultivation on 123 acres of forest land at Telapada jungle of Luising panchayat under Gochhapada police limits was destroyed Wednesday.”

As many as 30 labourers, 40 personnel of police and excise department with the deputy collector had conducted the drive, reports said.
