Angul: At least 15 students from Alekhpatna Primary School at Kumand Chandi market on the outskirts of Angul district fell sick after eating some chocolates Monday.
The students are undergoing treatment at Angul district hospital. All the students are out of danger, the hospital authorities said.
Subham Sahoo, Rashmita Sahoo, Archita Biswal, Priyanka Sahoo, Sujata Gochchayat, Krishna Samal, Sumitra Gochchayat, Bibhuti Gochchayat and Subhrajyotirmayee Nayak are among the students who are undergoing treatment. They are students of Class IV and Class V, reports said.
According to reports, a student of Class IV distributed chocolates on the occasion of his brother’s birthday. His brother is also a Class IV student. After eating these chocolates, some of the students complained of dizziness and started vomiting.
The students have been immediately rushed to the DHH.
When checked, it was found out that the expiry date of these chocolates was over.
In the evening, the Collector visited the hospital and enquired about the health of students.
Meanwhile CRMO distributed Rs 2,000 and a bottle of Horlicks to each student under treatment.
