Pipili: As many as fifteen cobras and 12 eggs were rescued from the house of a resident of Budhakera village under Satyabadi block in Puri district Saturday.
After finding a lot of reptiles in their house, Surendra Sethi and his family members contacted the local snake helpline member. Ramchandra Mohapatra, the snake helpline member, rescued the reptiles and eggs from the house. Later the baby reptiles were released in a nearby jungle.
About 150 cobra hatchlings were reportedly rescued from Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district a few days ago.
Twenty-two cobra hatchlings were rescued and 50 eggs found from various parts of Bhandaripokahri block in Bhadrak Friday.
Eleven cobra hatchlings were found from the shop of Krupasindhu Rout at Radho Chhak of Udala in Mayurbhanj district the same day. Similarly, seven snake hatchlings were spotted in the house of Sindhu Rout at Paika Sahi in Mangarajpur village under Kujanga block in Jagatsinghpur district Friday.
Likewise, three cobras were rescued from a puja room (Bhagabat Gadi) in Kalianti village of Mahanga block in Cuttack district on the same day.
Thursday evening, nine cobra hatchlings were rescued from a house at Nuapada while eight cobra hatchlings, a grown up cobra and 50 eggs were found in the house of Dasarathi Jena at Nami village. Four cobra hatchlings were rescued from Ola village in Tesinga panchayat.
