15-year-old girl beaten to death for resisting rape, hung from tree

Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly beaten to death for resisting rape bid by four youths and later hung from a tree to show it as a case of suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district.

Four men allegedly thrashed a minor girl to death after she resisted their molestation attempt, sources said.

The Class 11 girl was accompanied by her brother when she was dragged to the bushes. The attackers also beat up the victim’s brother.

The four accused, who attempted to rape the 15-year-old girl, beat her to death and then hanged her body from a tree. The incident took place Tuesday when the girl was returning from school after Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.

The body of the girl was reportedly hanged using her dupatta. Police have so far arrested three accused identified as Shivam, Mangal and Vikas, from a nearby village. The fourth accused, identified as Ramveer, is currently at large.

In a separate incident, two men allegedly harassed students who were returning from school and also thrashed two people who objected to their behaviour, police said Wednesday.

The incident occurred Tuesday in UP’s Muzaffarnagar.

A student of Class 12 was returning from school accompanied by two of her friends when the bike-borne accused started harassing them. When two people near them opposed their behaviour, the youths thrashed them, they said.

The police registered a case and launched an investigation in the incident.
