Koraput: As many as 15,192 voters have been enrolled in the voter lists of two constituencies in Koraput sub-division, while 7,273 of them belong to Koraput constituency, Sub-Collector Lalit Kumar Kanhar said.
A meeting regarding preparation of final voter lists of the three constituencies, Laxmipur, Pottangi and Koraput, under the sub-division was held Friday at the DRDA office, where the District Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy emphasized on preparation of accurate voter lists. He also ordered the booth level officers (BLOs), who were present at the meeting to submit the final report by Monday, by moving door to door.
Chakravarthy asked the BLOs for deletion of all dead voters from the list. He also asked them to conduct surveys in their assigned areas and indentify the persons who have multiple voter enrolments.
Besides, the collector also took note of the basic facilities like electricity supply, toilets and road connectivity to all the 1,141 booths in the district, while the BLOs were asked to check the booths to make them disability-friendly vote casting centres.
Chakravarthy ordered the sub-collector to felicitate 10 BLOs for their remarkable job in this regard. Similarly, the collector asked Kanhar to take strict actions against 10 BLOs, who will have neglected their duties.
During the meeting, the Collector also informed that, meetings of all the BLOs of the district would be conducted fortnightly and meetings, chaired by sub-collector, would be held weekly.
The meeting also decided to firm up the final voter list on January 21, 2019 before the general election.
