17 places record temp below 10°C in Odisha, Phulbani shivers at 3.6°C

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, as many as 17 places in Odisha recorded temperatures below 10 degree Celsius, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here informed Wednesday.

Cold Wave continues to grip many parts of the state as Phulbani shivered at a minimum temperature of 3.6 degree Celsius, followed by Daringbadi with 4.5, Jharsuguda with 6, Sundargarh with 6, Keonjhar with 6.4, Sonepur with 6.4, Titilagarh with 6.5, Bhawanipatna with 6.8 and Koraput with 7 degree Celsius.

Other places where night temperatures plummeted below 10 degree Celsius are Boudh (8), Angul (8), Hirakud (8.4), Bolangir (8.5), Sambalpur (8.6), Nayagarh (9), Talcher (9) and Chandbali (9.7).

Bhubaneswar-Cuttack twin cities recorded minimum temperatures of 10.1 degree Celsius and 10.6 degree Celsius, respectively.

Similarly, Balasore recorded a minimum temperature of 11.1 degree Celsius, Baripada (10.4), Paradip (12.4), Gopalpur (11.8), Puri (14.4), Chhatrapur (11) and Paralakhemundi (13).

It is pertinent to mention, the IMD regional centre Tuesday predicted that the minimum temperatures will remain below normal by 5 to 6 degree Celsius in the districts of interior and by 4 to 5 degrees in the districts of coastal Odisha during the next three days.

The regional centre has also issued Orange Warning for isolated cold wave to severe cold wave conditions for seven districts in the state, which are Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Subarnapur and Boudh.

Notably, the winter chill is being felt in most parts of the state throwing normal life of people out of gear. The spine-chilling conditions force people to remain indoors during the morning and evening hours.
