1,710 COVID-19 vaccine doses stolen from Haryana hospital

Haryana: A case of theft of COVID-19 vaccine was reported from Jind, Haryana Wednesday night.

1,710 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have reportedly been stolen from the storeroom of Jind Civil Hospital. The centre’s in-charge said that these included 1,270 doses of Covishield and 440 Covaxin vaccines.

According to the police, the thieves broke the lock of the storeroom before running it dry. After the theft, there is no vaccine left in Jind.

Due to the spike in COVID-19 infections, the situation is getting worse from bad to worse

A medical officer said that other valuables like laptops and Rs 50,000 cash besides other things were also lying in the storeroom but the thieves did not take these items away.

On being informed police registered a case in this regard and initiated a probe.

One of the major setbacks in the case is the fact that the hospital administration has neither installed a CCTV camera near the storeroom nor had deployed a guard to prevent the theft.
