Sambalpur: The authorities of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla have fined 18 students for their alleged involvement in ragging. The authorities have imposed a penalty of Rs 54,000 on the accused and warned them to refrain from such activities in future.
Notably, some second year students were asked by their fourth year counterparts to come to the basketball court, March 10. However, they did not turn up. This infuriated the fourth year students. They went to the hostel meant for the second year scholars and ragged them. The accused thought that they would get away with their act. However, those ragged lodged a complaint with New Delhi based Anti-Ragging Cell.
The authorities had formed a three-member team to probe into the allegations. After the accused were found guilty a decision to impose fines on them was taken by VIMSAR authorities.
