Khunta, Dec 11: Forest officials of Dukura range under Baripada division Thursday found the carcass of a tusker. Locals had seen a tusker roaming in the area in search of food and damaging crops for the last few days.
The forest officials detected the movement of the elephant till Wednesday evening. Thursday morning, the elephant was found dead near Sabujapani rivulet.
Dukura ranger Batakrushna Padhi started an investigation. Veterinary doctors present there believe the jumbo might have died due to poisoning.
