Berhampur: Kandhamal Childline officials with the help of police Monday rescued as many as 19 minor girls while they were being taken to work as labourers in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The girls were then produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Phulbani and later 15 of them were handed over to their guardians. The other four were sent to SADHAN- an orphanage .
The girls said they were being taken to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu to be engaged in prawn, fish and sewing machines factories on the promise of lucrative remunerations.
