Patana: Police Wednesday arrested two persons on the charge of brutal gangrape and murder of a widow to destroy evidence at Field Sahi in Aharpada village under this police limit in Keonjhar district. The accused were identified as Lepa Munda, 46, and Rabindra Munda, 43; both residents of the area. Both the accused have confessed to their crime during interrogation, Patana police station IIC Deepti Ranjan Sahu said. A case was registered in this connection and medical examinations were conducted on the accused before producing them in the court, the IIC said. The incident occurred when the woman, the mother of six children, had gone to Field Sahi in Aharpada to attend the post-death rituals of a relative. The accused gang-raped the woman and strangled her to death to destroy the evidence of their crime, the IIC added.
