2 arrested for smuggling antlers

Bargarh, August 1: A special squad of the district police arrested two persons and seized 83 antlers when they were being smuggled in a vehicle here. The accused were identified as Manohar Seth (46) of Nuanpada village and Subal Sahu (27) of Lelehar village under the Ambabhona police limits of the district.
Addressing a press conference here, superintendent of police Ashish Kumar Singh said they had received information about smuggling of antlers from Debrigarh forest along Dunguri-Ambabhona road.
On the basis of the information, a special squad of the district police intercepted a vehicle along the road Saturday.
When the police officials frisked the vehicle, they found the antlers and brought the duo to police station for further interrogation. During interrogation, the two confessed to the crime, the SP said.
He further informed that the two accused as well as the antlers and vehicle have been handed over to forest department officials for further action.
