Hatadihi: Two bikers were killed Monday after a truck ran over them at Biranchipur Square about 500 metres from Nandipada police station in Keonjhar district. The deceased bikers were identified as Indramani Sethi, 40, and Rabindra Peda, son of Kuni Peda of Sulagadia village under Bhadrak Rural police limits.
Reports said that Indramani accompanied by Rabindra was returning home on his bike after handing ‘Dwitya Osha’ offerings at his sister’s house at Bhatakarua village under Hatadihi block in Bhadrak district when the mishap happened. The two were travelling on State Highway No. 53 when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit them at Biranchipur. Square. The truck after hitting the two-wheeler ran over the two as they were writhing in pain. Both Indramani and Rabindra lay in a pool of blood while the driver fled the scene with his vehicle.
Locals informed the cops who arrived on the spot and sent the two injured to Anandapur Hospital. However, doctors declared both dead on arrival. Later in the day police handed over the bodies of the deceased to the respective family members after post-mortem. They also initiated a probe into the accident.
