2 BJB College professors brutally attacked with beer bottles, 1 held

Bhubaneswar: A professor and an assistant professor of BJB Autonomous College in Kalpana Square here were brutally attacked by miscreants in the College premises under Badagada police station, leaving them critically wounded Saturday night.

According to the police, the professors Sushil Kumar Rout, Professor of Botany and Asish Mohan Singh, Assistant Professor were coming out of IGNOU centre after attending a function at 8 pm, when about four youths passed lewd comments at them.

When they objected and questioned them as to what they were doing inside the campus, the youths attacked them with beer bottles. They have sustained severe head injuries, the police said.

The police said the four miscreants were consuming alcohol inside the college premises near the Arts block of the College as the area is dark.

After getting information, a patrolling team rushed to the spot and rescued the two professors who were then taken to Capital Hospital as they were bleeding profusely. They are still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Badagada police have arrested one accused, A Trishal, a BBA student of Unit-VIII DAV School, it was learnt.

A case has been registered and the police is investigating into the matter.
