Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Regional Centre of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IICHE-BRC) and CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar, organised a twoday seminar ODICHEM-2024 on the theme ‘Technological Challenges in the Mineral Sector’ here recently. The event was inaugurated by the director of Materials Group, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Raghvendra Tewari who was the chief guest of the occasion.
In his address, Tewari spoke on the energy scenario in the country and the changing role of critical minerals in India. Deputy DG of the Geological Survey of India Pankaj Kumar, the guest of honour, presented a clear geological picture of Odisha, highlighting the possibility of industrial development, especially related to the critical minerals. The chairman of the organising committee DP Misra, a veteran chemical engineer welcomed the guests. He invited the investors to explore Odisha as their next investment destination. CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar director Ramanuj Narayan narrated the industry-oriented research activities taken up by the CSIR and CSIR-IMMT for the mineral sector.
The steering committee chairman Omkar Nath Mohanty explained the purpose of the seminar while IICH-BRC chairman Chaturmukha Pattnaik presented the activities of the Regional Centre and its thrust on organising various seminars. Organising secretary of ODICHEM Deepak Nayak gave a brief outline of the event. Around 200 delegates from industries, academia, and R&D organisations attended the seminar.
