2 dead, 2 others critically injured in Nayagarh road mishap

Nayagarh: In a tragic road mishap, as many as two persons died on the spot and two others sustained grievous injuries following a head-on collision between two motorbikes late Sunday night.

The road mishap took place near Sai Temple at Tulasipur locality on Bolangir-Khurda National Highway (NH-57) in Nayagarh district.

The deceased were identified as 35-year-old Manas Mohapatra from Minor Irrigation (MI) Colony in Nayagarh town and 34-year-old Benudhar Pradhan from Lunisara village under Nuagaon police limits in the district.

Moreover, the critically injured were identified as Budhanath Sia from old Nayagarh town and Gopal Mohapatra from Khuntubandha village of Mahipur panchayat in the district.

Passers-by rescued the four persons in critical condition and rushed them to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). However, doctors at the health facility declared two of them as ‘brought dead’.

On being informed, Nayagarh Town police reached the DHH and seized the bodies for post-mortem.

“The bodies will be handed over to respective families after conducting the post-mortem later Monday. We have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe which is underway,” a senior official in Town police station said.
