Rourkela: Two persons died and another was seriously injured in a hit-and-run case involving an unknown vehicle and a bike in Koira area, Thursday. The injured was shifted to a hospital here as his condition deteriorated. The incident occurred at Koira, 100 kilometers away from here, when the three were returning after witnessing the ‘Bahuda Jatra’ on a bike. They were allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle and fell down. The intensity of the collision was visible from the mangled bike which was lying at a distance. The deceased Jagdish Dehuri and Ajit Munda, and the injured Bikram Munda, who has been shifted to Rourkela, belong to Kalamangal village under Malda panchayat of Koira block. Jagdish was riding while the other two were the pillions. Bikram was initially taken to Koira community health centre and later was shifted to Rourkela.
Soon after the accident, irate villagers blocked the road demanding compensation for the trio. The accident occurred around 8.00 pm, Wednesday. The blockade was shifted at around 11.00 pm after police pacified the agitators.
