Cuttack/Baripada: Two persons met watery grave while taking bath in river post Holi celebrations in Cuttack and Mayurbhanj districts respectively, Friday.
In the first incident, a 15-year-old boy drowned while taking bath at Kathjori river after Holi celebration at Gopalpur in Cuttack district.
After celebrating Holi with friends, Satish Sahoo had gone to Kathjori river to take a bath. It was when he was taking bath, he accidently slipped into deep and drowned. Other Holi revelers who were having bath nearby rescued him in a critical condition and admitted him to SCB Medical College and Hospital. However, the doctors declared him received dead.
Satish had appeared for Matric examinations this year, it was learnt.
Similarly, a youth died after falling into Sitakund at Similipal in Mayurbhanj district. The deceased was identified as Akshaya Sharma, aged 22 of Vivekanand Marg in Balasore district.
Sources said, Akshaya along with three of his friends had come here for picnicking on the occasion of Holi. While taking a dip in the tank, he drowned. His friends immediately rescued him and rushed him to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Two separate cases of unnatural deaths were registered and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
