2 held for assaulting policemen

Bhubaneswar/Barang: Police Monday arrested two persons on charge of attacking police officials.
In the first instance, the accused, identified as Anam Das of Bharatpur area under Khandagiri police limits was arrested for attacking cops September 23, 2018. According to sources, some unknown sources informed Khandagiri police station September 23, 2018 night that some 30/40 persons had been beating up the driver of a car following an accident with a motorcycle at Bharatpur Square. Some police officials along with a lady home guard reached the spot and tried to dissuade the mob from taking law into their hands. However, the policemen and the lady home guard were attacked in the melee.
Later, upon arrival of more policemen, the mob dispersed and the police managed to arrest three persons while Anam succeeded in giving the cops a slip. Police arrested and sent him to court Monday.
In another instance, police arrested Raja Pradhan alias Swadhin of Gothapatna on charges of attacking two cops in Chandaka police limits here. According to sources, the incident occurred during the Vidya Ratna exam at a college here Sunday. As around 3,500 examinees were appearing for their paper at the venue, constables Subas Sabar and Rajib Lochan Kuanr were deputed to control the traffic near the place.
Meanwhile, Swadhin arrived there and parked his motorcycle in the middle of the road. When the two policemen on duty objected to this, he started a quarrel with them and later left the place. Sometime later, Swadhin again came to the spot with his associates Chandan Maharatha and Dipu, both residents of Malipada village, and Sipu, a resident of Gothapatna. Subsequently, all the four accused assaulted the two cops.
Soon after the incident, Subas Sabar lodged a complaint with Chandaka police, who registered a case (10/19) in this regard. Chandaka police station inspector in-charge Sunil Kumar Behera said that Swadhin was arrested and forwarded to court Monday, while the other three are still absconding.
