2 injured as onion-laden truck falls into gorge

Baripada: Two persons were critically injured after an onion-laden truck they were travelling in, skidded off the road and fell into a 50-feet deep gorge Saturday.

According to sources, a truck carrying onions from Nasik to Kolkata lost control and skidded off and fell 50-feet down the National Highway 49 at Duarasuni ghati under Bangiriposi police limits of the district early Saturday morning.

The driver and the helper of the vehicle were seriously injured in the accident

Soon after the incident, police, fire fighting team along with the locals launched a rescue operation and recovered the two persons. They were immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital.

Preliminary findings suggested that the two injured persons were residents of Midnapore in West Bengal.
