2 killed, 2 critically injured in separate road mishaps in these Odisha districts

Car collided with a stationary JCB machine on national highway (NH-57)

Sonepur/Angul: In two separate road mishaps which occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday, two persons were killed and two others sustained critical injuries in Angul and Subarnapur districts.

In the first incident, a youth died while his driver got critically injured after a car in which they were travelling collided with a stationary JCB machine on national highway (NH-57) near Arjunpur forest in Subarnapur district. The deceased was identified to be Subhrashu Joshi of Tileswar village in Boudh district and the injured as his driver Bikash, local police sources informed.

Joshi was on his way to Bolangir from Boudh district when the mishap took place. Bikash who was driving the car lost control over the vehicle and hit the JCB machine. Joshi died on the spot.

Bikash was rescued by fire personnel and was rushed to Sonepur Hospital for treatment. Police sent Joshi’s body for post-mortem.

In another road mishap, one person was killed and the other was critically injured after a bike which they were riding fell off a bridge near Raibahal under Kishorenagar police limits in Angul district.

The deceased was identified to be Binod Pandey and the injured as Bhimsen Mallick. Both of them are residents of Athamalik area in the district. The duo was heading to Madhapur from Kishorenagar when they lost control over the two-wheeler leading to accident. Pandey died on the spot. Mallick was rescued and sent to hospital.

On being informed, Kishorenagar police reached the spot. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe.
