Keonjhar: A man and a woman were murdered at Nayagarhmunda Sahi village under Bamebari police limits in this district late Monday night. Local allegedly thrashed Chaitanyaa Munda (40) and Subash Munda (75) believing they practiced witchcraft which was harming the village.
Three of the five accused in the case have been arrested by the police so far while two are absconding. A manhunt has been launched for them.
The three accused, alleged that they noticed unusual events occurring in the village. They suspected witchcraft for those and held Chaitanyaa and Subash responsible. So some villagers came up with a plan to eliminate the duo.
Five villagers allegedly barged into the house where Subash and Chaitanyaa stayed. They first strangled Subash to death. Chaitanyaa then trying to escape was stoned down and killed by them.
On being informed about the double murder, police reached the spot and started their investigation. The police also send the bodies for post-mortem.
