Boudh, Jan 14: Acting on a tip-off, a special police team Monday arrest two dreaded criminals from Gochhapada village under Sadar police limits in Boudh district for their alleged involvement in several robbery incidents.
The accused were Siladitya Pradhan of Padmapur and Tipu Behera of Janhapanka.
A case was registered and the duo was produced in a court. The two have several cases of loot, dacoity and attempt to murder registered against their names, the police said.
The duo waylaid a school teacher, Niran Meher, while he was returning home at Kanakpur. The criminals took away Rs 1,500, a mobile phone and a motorbike from Meher at gunpoint after badly beating him up.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the teacher, the police launched a manhunt and identified the duo. Later, a special team was formed to arrest them.
Based on a tip-off about their presence at Gochhapada, the police reached the village and made the arrests. They also seized two knives and 10 live bullets from the criminals.
