2 persons detained for allegedly practicing black magic to get ‘hidden treasure’

Bhawanipatna: Two of a nine-member black magic gang was caught when they were practicing acts of sorcery to locate hidden treasures at Rankabahal village under Dharmagarh police limits in Kalahandi district late Monday night.

The police have detained the sorcerers identified as Jogeswar Bachha and Sarat Sarkhel for questioning.

According to a source, nine persons were seen performing some rituals at a farmland at Rankabahal village in the dead of night. When they started digging up the land, some villagers approached them. As they found their acts suspicious, they chased them but managed to catch only two. The rest of the members were able to escape taking advantage of darkness. On questioning by the villagers, the two who were caught, said they were looking for hidden treasures.

On being informed, police reached the village and took the sorcerers to the police station. A detailed investigation has been launched to ascertain what the group was doing at the dead of night.
