Phulbani: Tension prevailed at Tirukudi Ghat under Khajuripada police limits in Kandhamal district after two school students were killed in a road mishap Friday. The incident occurred when the students were returning home from school.
The deceased have been identified as Sipun Behera and Rajkishore Kanhar of Khaumunda village.
An unidentified vehicle ran over the duo and sped away, killing them on the spot. Locals staged a road blockade by placing the bodies on the road. They demanded arrest of the vehicle driver and compensation to the bereaved families. A police team reached the spot and tried to pacify the mob.
The agitation was continuing when this report was filed.
