Rourkela: Two wild tuskers on rampage have made life difficult for villagers near Bonai. The situation turned dangerous Tuesday when the elephants entered two villages and ran amok in the streets. Life came to a standstill when the tuskers walked through the main streets of the villages. Reports said, for the last one and half weeks, two elephants who have got separated from their herd are roaming freely in Sangogua, Talita, Tikayatpalli, Didipalli, Kelo, Kansar and other areas near Bonai. They got separated from their herd some three weeks back during a drive, informed a forest official.
Since then all efforts to unite them or drive them away have failed and the two are creating havoc in the locality. When this was brought to the notice of Bonai DFO Lalit K Patra, he said, “The jumbos are really behaving a little differently. My experienced team is keeping an eye on them and tracking them. I am hopeful that soon they will be driven away.”
