21K disabled voters cast their votes in Koraput

Koraput: Voting is on full swing, many 1st time voters and differently-abled came forward to cast their votes in the first phase of 2019 Lok Sabha elections Thursday. As per reports, a total of 21,782 disabled persons will cast their votes in five Assembly segments of Koraput Parliamentary constituency.

While 3,851 voters cast their vote in Jeypore Assembly segment, another 3,301 and 5,209 differently-abled voters are voting for their MLA selection in Laxmipur and Pootangi Assembly segments respectively. Similarly, 5,446 voters are exercising their franchise in Kotpad Assembly seat.

Meanwhile, the district administration beefed up all security arrangements for the smooth conduct of polls. Koraput Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy toured around polling booths to ensure peaceful polling.

Special arrangements for transporting the specially-abled voters to the polling booths have been made, the Koraput Collector said adding that the administration was trying to check on any untoward incident.
