262 schools selected for first phase of Mo School

Bhubaneswar: Altogether 262 schols in six districts of the state have been selected for development purpose in the first phase of the MO School programme of the School and Mass education department.

The districts selcted are Bhadrak, Bargarh, Gajapati, Jagatsighpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada.

An amount of Rs 2.66 crore has been sanctioned for the purpose, out of which the state government will give Rs 1.77crore  and Rs 89lakh will be donated by old students of the schools, said S&ME Principal secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra after the first meeting of Mo School here Friday. He said that other parts of the state will be also included in the programme soon.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the Mo School campaign on Children’s Day in 2017.  It is an initiative to make pass out students active participants in the development journey of their schools. Under the programme, whatever is contributed in terms of funds for development of schools, the state will contribute double the amount. An initial corpus of Rs 100 crore was announced for this initiative.
