Khurda: The district administration has arranged a total of 750 beds at 23 Temporary Medical Centres (TMCs) in rural areas of Khurda for the treatment of people infected with novel coronavirus.
As per a report, the administration has set up 23 TMCs for the Covid patients of 190 panchayats under 10 blocks in Khurda. This apart, at least 145 beds have been arranged in six TMCs to treat Covid patients of Khurda and Jatni municipalities and Balugaon and Banapur Notified Area Councils (NACs), said the report.
Moreover, a Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) and three Covid Care Centres (CCCs) have been set up in Khurda district to treat critical Covid patients. The DCH and the CCCs have altogether 810 beds, including 460 beds fitted with oxygen.
Neelachal DCH at Balakati has 160 beds, including 86 general beds, 34 intensive care units (ICUs) and 40 high dependency units (HDUs), said the report released by the district administration.
The CCC at INS-Chilika has 100 general beds and 50 oxygen-supported beds. Khudupur CCC has 100 oxygen-fitted beds and 200 general beds. Similarly, the CCC at Manjari Devi Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital has 150 oxygen-supported beds and 50 general beds to treat the Covid patients, added the report.
The administration has constituted 27 rapid response teams (RRTs) to attend patients who are under home isolation. “The rapid response teams are working under the supervision of the doctors at the community health centres (CHCs). The teams are providing medicine kits to home isolation patients and taking care of the people residing in the micro containment zones,” said an official of the district administration.
According to the official, control rooms have been set up at all CHCs of the district for better management of the Covid-19 situation. This apart, three district-level control rooms have been established in Khurda to supervise the treatment of Covid patients, he said.
“A health monitoring cell is working at the district-level to provide telephonic consultations to the patients. Doctors at the cell have provided telephonic advice to 17,248 patients till May last. A telemedicine centre has been established at the DHH,” added the official.
The report further claimed that the district has at least 20 oxygen-supported ambulances to carry critical Covid patients to hospitals. “The DHH has three ambulances fitted with advanced health equipment. Besides, at least 31 ambulances under the 108 and 102 fleets are also operating in the district. The administration has deployed two vans to carry bodies of Covid patients,” the report said.
