2nd phase of ‘Skilled in Odisha’ begins

Bhubaneswar: The second phase of ‘Skilled in Odisha’ was kicked off here Sunday.

A two-day workshop was organised in this regard here where skill development and technical education (SD&TE) Minister Usha Devi said the skill transformation of Odisha has made a mark at national level and now the state will soon emerge one among the best at international level.

In the first phase of the initiative, the campaign focused on rejuvenation of the ITI institutions of the state and in its second phase, the campaign will work on transformation and formulation of new mission and vision, said official sources. The new vision of the campaign is ‘Transform Society through Skilled Professionals’.

The government aims to make ‘Skilled in Odisha’ a global brand and targets to provide skill development training to around eight lakh youths in three years ending 2018-19.

SD&TE secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh said, “The journey of transformation in technical and vocational education started two years back with introspection about where we stand in world skill scenario. In the process we have integrated hardware and software components of the skill, and now Odisha is all set to venture into the second phase of transformation.”
