Golamunda, June 2: Three cows died while some others fell sick after allegedly consuming food left over from a government function at Shivaji Stadium here in Kalahandi district May 29.
Ama Gaon Ama Vikas, a government programme, was organised by the district administration in which food was served to the people.
After the programme, everybody went their way and the excess food was left in the stadium.
Some cows which later consumed the food were unable to digest it. One cow and a calf died outside the stadium while another died subsequently. The ailing animals were admitted in the local veterinary hospital.
The incident has irked locals who alleged it was caused by carelessness of the local authorities.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Padmanab Patra has ordered to clean up the stadium, but inclement weather has come in the way.
