Angul: Three persons were killed after the two-wheeler they were riding on was hit by a speeding truck near PTC main gate on National Highway-55 late Wednesday night. The deceased have been identified as Sangram Naik (25) and Deepu Naik (23) of Turung Naik village and Dillip Naik (27) of the same village. Sources said, Sangram, Deepu and Dillip were on their way from Turung to Angul on a scooty to witness ‘Danda Nach’ fair. At PTC main gate, a speeding truck coming from Angul side hit the scooty, leaving two dead on the spot. On being informed, police and fire personnel reached the spot while they seized the bodies and the two-wheeler. Dillip was rescued and taken to the hospital immediately.
He was first admitted to Angul district headquarters hospital and then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated. However, he also breathed his last, sources said. Soon after the accident news reached the deceased’s village, their relatives gathered at DHH and tension prevailed for quite some time until the intervention of police.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding driver, informed police.
