Bhawanipatna: In a shocking incident, miscreants killed a retired teacher over a land-related dispute at Deundi village under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi district, police said Saturday. The victim was identified as Kanhu Charan Thakur, a native of the village. Police registered a murder case over a complaint lodged by his son and arrested three co-villagers. The accused were identified as Manas Gopal, Bimal Gopal, and Ashok Gopal in the village. Police said that the murder took place over a land-related dispute between the accused and the victim.
Police said that Thakur was using government land as an approach road to his house. This led to a dispute between the accused and the victim following which the former cut off the road to the latter’s house. The move resulted in a bitter altercation between the two groups. Enraged, the accused persons beat up Thakur and later strangled him to death. Family members rescued him in critical condition and rushed him to the local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
